Safer Births at PAS Global Session

The Pediatric Academic Societies (PAS) Annual Meeting is the largest international meeting focused on research in child health.

At the PAS meeting May 2013 in Washington DC, researchers from the Safer Births study team dominated the Global Session.

Two out of the five platform presentations at the Global Session was based on research from the Helping Babies Breathe study at Haydom Lutheran Hospital.

Research Manager at the Haydom Research Institute Estomih Mduma held the first presentation called “Low-Dose High Frequency Helping Babies Breathe training reduces Early Neonatal Mortality within 24 hours in a rural African Hospital”

Followed by Principal Investigator and Project Manager Dr. Hege Ersdal holding a presentation entitled: Helping Babies Breathe training is associated with decreased 24-hours neonatal mortality, and unchanged neonatal mortality beyond 24-hours

Both presentations were met with  great interests from the audience, proving the importance of the newborn research currently being conducted at Haydom.
