Dr. Benjamin Kamala presents positive results from Moyo study at PAS 2017 Dr. Kamala’s presentation showed improvements in abnormal FHR detection and care in a hospital in Tanzania where Moyo was used. Award to Safer Births Principal Investigator for most valuable scientific article
Safer Births Principal Investigator and Project Manager will receive the Marie Spångberg award for the female medical scientist who has made the most valuable scientific article in the passing year on the 4th of June 2013 at the Norwegian Doctors Association National Meeting in Alta, Norway.
Support to Haydom Research Institute from Laerdal Foundation
Haydom Research Institute was granted a five year Support from the Laerdal Foundation to support infrastructure development and capacity building related to the Safer Births Study.
Laerdal Foundation grants PhD Scholarships to Safer Births Researchers
The Laerdal Foundation granted PhD Scholarships to two of the Safer Births PhD candidates. Dr. Jørgen E. Linde started his research in 2012, while Dr. Monica Thallinger will start her research this year.
The Laerdal Newborn Resuscitation Monitor is in its final testing
The resuscitation monitor developed by Laerdal Medical As is in its final testing and will made available for the Safer Births study within the summer. The monitor is a one-of-a-kind and is expected to answers several questions related to cardio-pulmonary adaptation at birth.
Safer Birth at PAS Global Session
This year two out of five presentations at the Global Session of the Annual Meeting of the Pediatric Academic Societies was given by Safer Births staff presenting important findings related to the Helping Babies Breathe study in Haydom, Tanzania.
Safer Births Fetal Heart Rate monitoring started
The randomized controlled trial aiming to identify the best device for fetal heart rate monitoring started 1st of March at the Haydom Lutheran Hospital and Muhimbili National Hospital in Tanzania. The results takes us one step further in finding effective ways of detecting compromised fetuses early.
Start of Safer Births in Tanzania
1st of March marks the start of the Safer Births in Tanzania.With the randomized controlled trial on different fetal heart rate devices started and the research assistants observing deliveries at Haydom and the midwives at Muhimbili National Hospital started data collection using the Safer Births data collection form.
GlobVac Application Submitted
After intense work, planning and meetings the Safer Births project submitted its application for funding to GLOBVAC Safer Births presented an application including funding for four innovative new products, with great potential to save newborn lives worldwide.
Safer Births Receives Ethical Clearance
The Safer Births study has now received ethical clearance from the National Institute of Medical Research in Tanzania and REK Vest in Norway. It is registered at ClinicalTrials.gov.
